There was a time, not long ago, that I was ready to put my creative, crafting days behind me because I didn't think I could do it by myself. I even went as far as to sell all my pretties for nearly nothing at a local flea market. But, that backfired when a customer, who loved my style, ended up being the owner of a really cool & ecelectic fabric store... and I was able to push myself in different directions as I freelanced for them. And it gave me courage to branch out. And then I found my way to a co-op of amazing artists and crafty types. And that experience once again pushed me to different levels of my creativity. And, I learned new techniques, pushed myself artistically and was able to purchase my own tent and haul it all over the city - with a little help from my girls, my parents and a few friends. And now I am thrilled beyond belief to be selected to be a vendor at a really big deal show, news to follow shortly, but let me just say: O M G
Here's a little peek at some of my button earrings on vintage playing cards. I am not straying from my textiles, these are fun little diversions. Over this long winter I was able to make a few hundred pairs while watching TV. I am such a multi-tasker - I was probably on ebay at the same time! The playing cards for my earrings = a new thing to collect.
I think what I keep finding out is - do what you love. Even if you are alone. Especially if you are alone. Be okay with not making money. Don't be afraid. Go to places you never dreamed of visiting. Ask for what you want. Subscribe to emails from
