I love, love, love polka dots. Especially pink with gum ball size dots! This crisp vintage fabric was a lucky find over the weekend at Preserve Cottage. I found the retro rose quilted fabric at the thrift store a few weeks ago and the lining & one strap - a pretty pillowcase. I stuck a green brooch on until I sew a jumbo button there. I'd love to leave it. Not sure it's a good idea, I doubt I can sell them for enough to cover the additional jewelry cost, kwim? I'll have to check with Dana, proprietress of Doe Hill Antiques & Decor for her expert opinion on her customer base. Of course, if I keep it... then the brooch stays! I made it extra large - for a weekend antiquing day, big enough for a sweatshirt - must dress in layers for those crisp mornings & warm afternoons , bottle of water and plenty of treasures. I went with the over sized tie straps to adjust for comfort and added strength. And drama, of course! The little drawstring purse was an afterthought. The pocket is crooked, and I was too lazy to fix it, so this baby goes to the daughters.
This aqua & coral barkcloth number is a lovely tropical vacation!
