Rosary Bead Earrings

I have mixed emotions.  I wear my vintage rosary bead earrings most days.  They give me peace. I don't know why, as I am a lapsed Catholic and don't specifically pray to Mary.  But, I know my customers have told me how nice and calming it is to reach to their prayer beads during a hectic or stressful day.  In my opinion, that can't be wrong. And, I have just as many people that just like the uniqueness of them. Several pairs are available on Etsy, just follow link on the right. Junquey Gal: You be mine

Junquey Gal: You be mine

You be mine

I am seriously in love with this stack of vintage pretties.  My favorite is this quaint hankie!!

Flea market find. All mine.  For - drum roll - $10!  An entire Marshall's shopping bag full. Luckily my partner in crime has eagle eyes for boxes of neglected old stuff.  Stay tuned to see what they become later!!

Not sure, it is just a blur. Sew, buy supplies to finish sewing projects, sew, repeat.  It is less than a month until the Columbus Country Living Fair .  O M G.  Me.  Pinch me again, right??  Just a little tease of the clutch/wristlets that I have been making. 101 of them to be exact!  Now I am on aprons... photos tomorrow!!

Shades of red, white & blue...

From my studio, lots of toile, texture, linen, lace... All recreated into pretty but functional purses & totes. I can barely see my dressform, Viola!  If you see something that interests you, just leave a comment.  Thanks for stopping!

Exciting news X 2!

Okay, I have almost finished pinching myself!  First the super-duper news that I hinted about previously... drum roll please...

This Junquey Gal, and an entourage of family and friends, is heading to Columbus, Ohio this September because I have been selected to be a VENDOR at the Country Living Fair

I know!

Thrilled, honored, scared, intimidated... yep.  And so busy - or shall I say sew busy??  Here's a little peek at what is on the work table.  As soon as this week's round of kid's softball games, chorus and honor programs is all over...

And as if that isn't the absolute best news ever, I found out today that I will have a purse and apron in the September/October issue of Somerset Studio Magazine .  I can't wait to be able to share more info about it.  I am not 100% how they are being featured - both are literary inspirations and could fit several different calls they had reently.

I know!

Big news!

There was a time, not long ago, that I was ready to put my creative, crafting days behind me because I didn't think I could do it by myself.  I even went as far as to sell all my pretties for nearly nothing at a local flea market.  But, that backfired when a customer, who loved my style, ended up being the owner of a really cool & ecelectic fabric store... and I was able to push myself in different directions as I freelanced for them.  And it gave me courage to branch out.  And then I found my way to a co-op of amazing artists and crafty types.  And that experience once again pushed me to different levels of my creativity.  And, I learned new techniques, pushed myself artistically and was able to purchase my own tent and haul it all over the city - with a little help from my girls, my parents and a few friends.  And now I am thrilled beyond belief to be selected to be a vendor at a really big deal show, news to follow shortly, but let me just say:  O M G

Here's a little peek at some of my button earrings on vintage playing cards.  I am not straying from my textiles, these are fun little diversions.  Over this long winter I was able to make a few hundred pairs while watching TV.  I am such a multi-tasker - I was probably on ebay at the same time!  The playing cards for my earrings = a new thing to collect.

I think what I keep finding out is - do what you love.  Even if you are alone.  Especially if you are alone.  Be okay with not making money.  Don't be afraid.  Go to places you never dreamed of visiting.  Ask for what you want.  Subscribe to emails from http://bravegirlsclub.com/ for daily inspiration.  Hang with other creative types.  Laugh.  Make a mess.  Be yourself.  Forget about what others think.    Cheers to glitter and salt... and laughter and keeping it real...
